hTis is a model 1922 usmc officers winter service forrest green visor cover. This model is extremely scarce and i feel it is just as rare if not rarer than its wwi bell crown counterpart. This is the first type with the larger saucer sized top and it has a non-removable top.
Teh visor and chinstrap are russet brown and the band and quatrefoil are both khaki in color and stand out more than the later versions. Thsi has a beautiful h and h marked ega that appears to be sterling.
The condition is a solid vg+ with no mothing to speak of that i can find. The visor has a few edge nicks and the chinstrap has some minor surface crazing but is otherwise solid. The interior silk lining is fraying a little here and there and the leather sweatband is solidly sewn and has marks from normal wear. There is no size label but it is approximately size 7 1/8. There are no markings that i can find and this piece is most likely a private purchase and of very high quality. This hat is typical of those worn by marine officers in china and ti is very possible that this piece is a china made example. See my jpegs below. 3 day inspection/return privilege less postage.
